Picture
Dreamotion Studios is ecstatic to introduce Rachel Garcia-Dunn as Director of Photography on the 'From Under The Bridge' film project. Simply put; Rachel is the perfect individual for this critical role. With over 80 credits (under Rachel Wyn Dunn) and more than 20 years of industry experience, Rachel undoubtedly ensures the film's creative vision will be achieved. She is an incredibly talented artisan and brings a vast range of creative and technical skills and disciplines to the production. Additionally, with the sensitive synopsis of this true story centered around a teenage girl, and my personal desire to support and incorporate female talent into productions, Rachel's inclusion is especially important.

I am beyond elated to make this official announcement, and sincerely grateful and thankful Rachel has joined the production team!

'From Under The Bridge' - official title replaces 'Placebook'.

7/21/2020

Picture
'From Under the Bridge' (latest concept poster artwork shown) is the official film title replacing the working title, 'Placebook'. Although the initial concept was named and developed under the 'Placebook' title, it became clear it would likely need to change due to obvious similarities to an existing 'Social Network'. But I'm delighted to state; the official title represents the story perfectly.

The official title is born from the dark and concealed place where trolls live and hide, while simultaneously projecting the constant darkness in which both the true story and its characters exist. Of course in this film, it is the internet trolls hiding under the world wide bridge, as they attempt to hurt human beings from the safety of the shadows.

Poster Artwork Notes: Once the role of 'Clare' is cast, the actor will be professionally photographed and featured in the official film poster (#WhoWillBeClare). The school tie colors are a nod to the high school I attended in England. The girl's blouse/shirt IS wet in the image.

Keep Calm and Create On...

'Placebook' remembers Doug MacKay

7/12/2020

Picture
It was 2008 when the original concept for the film was conceived. And in 2009, as a small band of friends (lead by Ryan Mulvaney) decided to enter the '48 Hour Film Festival' in Detroit, the first draft of the script was developed. Desiring an artistic representation to accompany the story, I reached out to a friend who I believed had the talent and expertise to create a visual interpretation of its essence.  Enter Doug MacKay - an extraordinary fellow who injected his own passion into the project and delivered with precision, quality and excellence.

When I presented Doug with the request, I didn't know what he would say or what to expect. But to my sincere and absolute joy, he accepted without hesitation and with an explosion of energy. He was delighted to be part of the creative process, showing incredible interest in the concept as he developed his piece, and I was personally inspired by his dedication to the cause. Doug was given complete creative freedom, and the resulting artwork was simply brilliant. In short, and as we say in England, Doug was 'spot on' with his interpretation composition. And if you look closely, you will notice the clever and cheeky incorporation of Doug's own social media profile into the final design.

Ultimately, we were unable to use the 'Placebook' concept for the film festival, as we drew 'comedy' as our genre. And needless to say, the core of the story behind 'Placebook' holds absolutely no comedic qualities, and could not be further situated from that genre. But I personally and internally vowed to Doug, his artwork and incredible contribution would not be forgotten, and would one day be unveiled to the world.

As the journey towards the definite production of the film continues, the working title must be changed to avoid certain and obvious comparisons to an existing social media environment. But Doug MacKay and his artwork will forever be embroidered into the soul of the film, and he continues to live in the hearts of those who loved and admired him.

As a tribute to Doug and to illustrate the everlasting appreciation and admiration for his association and contribution to the project, I would like to finally reveal Doug's incredible work.

In loving memory of a wonderfully brilliant and talented gentleman. You are sincerely missed but always remembered. Here's to you, Doug MacKay.

Sorting Through Cast and Crew... Last (Casting) Call!

7/2/2020

For the love of film! With almost 2,000 applications, you can imagine how many hours have been spent in front of the screen reviewing each and every submission. Because everyone who spends a moment to absorb the details of a project and show their interest through application, deserves that moment back through review and consideration. And of course, no stone shall be left unturned in the fear of passing by that hidden gem, waiting to be uncovered and discovered, or indeed film's 'best kept secret'.

This weekend, the door will close on the application process, the review process will be completed, and audition preparations/notifications will commence. Thanks to everyone who has applied! Your interest, time and passion is sincerely appreciated.

In short, films are made and can only be made because of people like YOU!

Cheers - Paul James
