In one of the most anticipated conversations to ever occur during the 13 year development of the 'From Under The Bridge' film project, Paul James connected with Tina Meier on Friday morning (November 13th, 2020) via a 90 minute Zoom call. Tina is the mother of Megan Taylor Meier, whose tragic story is the original inspiration behind the script and film. Tina founded the 'Megan Meier Foundation' in 2007, following the suicide of her daughter on October 17th, 2006 amidst a horrific cyber-bullying attack, wrought with an extreme application of cyber-manipulation. It is accurate to state; when Paul learned of this unbelievable occurrence 13 years ago, he was immediately and permanently impacted, and Megan and the Meier family have been embedded in his heart, soul and mind ever since.
Paul James: "In truth, although I had wanted to connect with Tina for many years, I was extremely nervous about making the call. While developing the script and then producing the film, I never took the sensitivity of the Meier story lightly, and remained continuously conscious of the fact I was drawing from an extremely sorrowful tragedy involving real people. And I have carried Megan, Tina and the Meier family in my heart from the moment I began the project. Connecting with Tina has been one of the most emotional and inspirational experiences of my life. She is an incredible woman who I both admire and adore, and I am positive our relationship and bond will continue to grow in depth and strength. Thank you Tina for everything! You are absolutely amazing."
In addition to his personal experiences related to the overall subject matter, Paul's stance on bullying, cyber-bullying and suicide has been directly impacted and enhanced by the Meier family story. And as a compassionate father of 2 young daughters and an advocate for the notion of 'one love', he is passionate about reducing and eliminating hatred and abuse.
